Info about Ascension: Ascension claimed the position of a British dependant territory in 1653. The region comprises of part of St. Helena along with other Dependencies such as Tristan da Cunha and a few other small islands in close proximity. Georgetown is perhaps the most important place in Ascension. The region is highly regarded for its wonderful tropical weather conditions with constant trade winds blowing across the landscape. Ascension is a volcanic island with English being the most commonly spoken language.
