Info about Angola: Before the advent of the Portuguese in the 16th century Angola was actually inhibited by Bantu tribes. Angola has a dark history of slave trading prior to it becoming a colony of Portugal in the 19th century. Angola managed to achieve independence in 1975 and today exists as one of the largest countries in the whole of Africa. The region is especially rich in large reservoirs of diamonds and oil. However the country struggles to maintain a decent economy due to the havoc that the years of civil war has wreaked in the social fabric of society.
